Current & Recent
Mock Trial
2025–2026 · CurrentMock Trial is where Alan's interest in structured argumentation, legal reasoning, and civic life comes together in practice. Playing the roles of attorneys and witnesses, teams prepare and argue simulated court cases before real judges. Alan joined the BLS program in 8th grade — a natural extension of the skills he has been developing in Declamation, Model UN, and public speaking more broadly. The courtroom format rewards preparation, clarity, and the ability to think on your feet.
BLS Crew (Rowing)
Spring 2026 · NewRecently joined Boston Latin School's crew team, taking on one of the most demanding and team-oriented sports at BLS. Rowing requires a particular kind of discipline: early mornings, synchronized effort, and the willingness to subordinate individual rhythm to the collective one. Alan is drawn to the challenge of learning something entirely new — and the trust it demands of teammates.
Ice Hockey
Three years of competitive playIce hockey has been a constant presence in Alan's athletic life — a sport that combines physical toughness with strategic thinking and tight team coordination. Three years of competitive play have built endurance, instilled a sense of structure under pressure, and deepened his appreciation for what teams can accomplish when everyone plays their role.
Soccer
OngoingSoccer is the sport Alan has played the longest — throughout his youth, in recreational leagues and competitive settings. It is a sport built around reading the field, anticipating movement, and contributing where needed. It has been a consistent thread in his athletic life across two countries.
Cross Country
Fall 2025Cross country is a discipline of endurance and mental resilience — a sport where the challenge is largely internal. Pushing through fatigue, maintaining form, staying present across a long course. For Alan, running is a form of focus: a way of building the quiet persistence that carries into other areas of his life.
Model UN
2025–2026Model UN is the academic arena where Alan is most visibly confident. Representing nations, researching policy positions, drafting resolutions, and defending arguments in committee sessions — it is structured argumentation at its most engaging. Alan performs well here because he prepares carefully and speaks with purpose, not volume.
HS Chorus
Ongoing · BLSAlan has been part of the Boston Latin School chorus, participating in both formal performances and seasonal concerts. Choral singing develops a specific kind of discipline: listening carefully, blending with others, and contributing to something larger than any individual voice. His consistent A+ marks in Chorus reflect both participation and genuine musical engagement.
